An Integrated AHP-TOPSIS Framework to Optimize Supplier Selection - A Case Study of Fresh Seafood Suppliers at Saigon Food Corporation
Purchasing is a strategic activity that requires the coordination of multiple departments. In the purchasing process, evaluating and selecting suppliers is essential, especially in the fresh seafood sector, where maintaining stringent storage conditions is critical for product quality. However, an increasing number of business managers and planners report that the multitude of criteria makes supplier selection complex and time-consuming in the absence of a speci c method. To solve this issue, this research suggests a multi-criteria decision-making model that combines the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) with the Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). The AHP approach is used to calculate the weights and priority of different criteria. TOPSIS is then utilized to assess and rank suppliers. The research focuses on Saigon Food Joint Stock Company and involves four of its fresh seafood suppliers. The criteria set includes four main factors: Cost, Quality, Business Capacity, and Transportation Capacity, further divided into 12 sub-criteria. The analysis reveals that "Quality" is the most in uential criterion, with key sub-criteria being Productivity, Raw Material Price, Business Performance, and Quality System of the supplier. These ndings are valuable for strategic planners and supply chain departments in identifying, managing, evaluating, and selecting suppliers.
