1.  Information of the Sample Building

•  Commercial building – 500m2 for each floor

•  20 storeys (G/F, 1 -20/F, Roof), 4m height floor-to-floor, no refuge floor

•  2 staircases with FH in both staircases

•  2 HR for each floor and each one is located near one of the escape staircases

•  FS Tank at roof level

•  Available pump locations: G/F and Roof

2.  Legislative Requirements

  Definition of ‘High-rise’ – any building of which the floor of the uppermost 

storey exceeds 30m above the point of staircase discharge at ground floor level

(in this Sample building, uppermost storey > 30m)

  Section 4.15 of CoP FSI – Commercial buildings – high-rise

(x) fire hydrant / hose reel system

EXTENT

There shall be sufficient hydrants and hose reels on each floor to ensure that every 

part of the building can be reached by a length of not more than 30m of Fire 

Services hose and hose reel tubing

  Section 5.14 of CoP FSI – Fire hydrant / hose reel system

(d) Fixed Fire Pump
