International Political Economy Christakis Georgiou
1. Definition
International:
› Focuses on the politics of economic phenomena that transcends state borders (trade transactions, export/import)
› Examines the interaction between economics and politics in individual states and the international system. This means it looks at the domestic sources of foreign economic policy (why is it that a given state in a given international system behaves in a specific way > e.g. protectionism or liberalism) and the impact of the international system on domestic political economies (e.g. impact of openness and breakdown of financial boarders and its impact on the domestic economy)
