SLIDE - Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) - Youngsu Chae - Dept. of EECS
- Overview
- IPv6 Extension Headers
- IPv6 Address Architecture
- Stateless Address Autoconfiguration
- Neighbor Discovery for IPv6
- Generic Packet Tunneling in IPv6
- IP Header Compression
Packet Size Issues.
IPv6 requires every link have an MTU of 1280 octets or greater.
On any link that cannot convey a 1280-octet packet in one piece, link-specific fragmentation and reassembly must be provided at a layer below IPv6.
Link that have a configurable MTU.
Recommended to be configured with an MTU of 1500 octets or greater to accommodate possible encapsulations
IPv6 nodes should implement Path MTU Discovery.
